HONOUR AWARDS CATEGORIES

All awards recognise the work of a person or organisation that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community in NSW or has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in NSW.

  • Nominations are FREE.
  • You can nominate yourself or the organisation you work for or a person or organisation you admire.
  • Persons and organisations can be nominated in multiple categories.
  • Nominators whose nominees are chosen as finalists will receive one (1) complimentary tickets to the Honour Awards event on Wednesday 23 August 2023 in Sydney.
  • Please note: Should there be multiple nominators for a chosen finalist, only the first person to submit a nomination for that finalist will receive the one (1) complimentary ticket to the Honour Awards.

Business Award | Presented by Sydney Gay & Lesbian Business Association

This award recognises the work of a person or commercial/for profit organisation that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in the fields of business, finance, retail, commerce and/or industry.

  • Eligible Entity: Person or commercial/for profit organisation

Arts & Entertainment Award | Presented by Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

This award recognises the work of a person or organisation that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in the creative industries, arts, popular culture and/or entertainment.

  • Eligible Entity: Person or organisation
  • Eligible Fields: Creative industries, arts, popular culture and/or entertainment.

Media Award | Presented by Out@NBCUniversal

This award recognises the work of a person that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in media including print, broadcast, online and/or social media.

  • Eligible Entity: Person 
  • Eligible Fields: Print, broadcast, online and/or social media
  • This is a national award. 

Cayte Latta Visual Arts Memorial Award | Presented by Friends of Cayte

This award, with a cash prize of $1000, recognises outstanding achievement in the field of visual art that expresses, interprets or explores issues or themes affecting the LGBTQ community. The award is a national award and is open to all residents of Australia.

  • Eligible Entity: Person
  • Eligible Fields: Photography, painting, drawing, video, filmmaking, printmaking and graphic design.

Artists can submit entries of previous work or work specifically created for the Award. Any images should be uploaded at time of submission or a link should be provided under the Supporting Statement section of the online Nomination Form. A body of work can be submitted but artists should nominate one particular work that can be considered independently.

Health and Wellbeing Award | Presented by St Vincent's Hospital Sydney 

This award recognises the work of a person or organisation that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in the fields of medicine, healthcare, spirituality, sport, education, research and/or advocacy.

  • Eligible Entity: Person or organisation
  • Eligible Fields: Medicine, healthcare, spirituality, sport, education, research and/or advocacy

Community Organisation Award | Presented by ACON

This award recognises the work of a community/not for profit organisation which has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community.   

  • Eligible Entity: Community/not for profit organisation
  • Eligible Fields: Any

Young Achiever Award | Presented by people2people

This award recognises the work of a person aged 30 years and or under who has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community.

HIV Hero Award | Presented by Positive Life NSW

This award recognises the work of a person or organisation that has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the community living with HIV OR has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the HIV sector or community in the areas of HIV prevention, support, advocacy, care, treatment and/or research.

Community Hero Award | Presented by Dowson Turco Lawyers

This award recognises the work of a person who has provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the LGBTQ community OR who has provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ community in any capacity.
