NOMINATIONS TERMS & CONDITIONS

IMPORTANT

• A nominee need only be nominated once to be considered. The number of nominations received per nominee bears no weight in their selection.
• Nominations can only be entered into one category.
• Nominations close Friday 31 July 2026.

WHO CAN NOMINATE

• Nominations are open to all community members, including supporters, friends and allies.
• Self-nominations are permitted.

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED

• Nominees must be at least 16 years of age on 1 January 2026.
• Nominees must be an Australian citizen OR have resident status and be living in Australia OR be an organisation or association that is registered in Australia.
• Nominees should reside/be based in or work principally within New South Wales.
• Nominees cannot be:
  • an employee of ACON
  • an employee of a direct supplier of commercial products or services to ACON
  • a member of the 2026 Honour Awards judging panel
  • an organisational partner of the Honour Awards
• Sitting members of State, Federal, and Local Government are not eligible.

THE JUDGING AND VETTING PROCESS

• One nomination is sufficient for the individual to be considered.
• Absolutely no weight is given to the number of times a person is nominated.
• The judging panel is made of representatives of ACON and key LGBTQ+ community organisations.
• Assessors reserve the right to verify details of a nomination and to disqualify entries if eligibility criteria are not met.
• In choosing the recipients of the Honour Awards, regard is given to the nominee’s achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contribution to the community.
• Consideration is also given to gender identity, age, ethnicity, cultural background and field of endeavour to help ensure recipients are representative of our diverse society.
• The judging panel reserves the right to vary the category for which a person has been nominated if the panel unanimously agrees a different category is more appropriate.
• A person may receive an award more than once in recognition of outstanding achievements, contributions or involvement in a different initiative.
• A couple or partnership with equal standing for the achievement or contribution may be recognised in an individual category.
• The selection of finalists and recipients reflect the nominations received and information available to the selection panel at the time. Organisers reserve the right to withdraw an award if further information or the recipient’s conduct draws the Honour Awards into disrepute.
• The judges' decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

FINALISTS TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Selected nominees (finalists) must agree to any local, state or national marketing and media publicity associated with the 2026 Honour Awards.
• Finalists are required, where possible, to attend the awards presentation ceremony. Each finalist will be given one (1) complimentary ticket to the 2026 Honour Awards. All others costs associated with attending the Honour Awards will be at the finalists’ expense.
• The winner of each category will be announced at the Honour Awards on Thursday 8 October 2026 at Paddington Town Hall in Sydney.
