HONOUR AWARDS FINDS ITS MOJO WITH BLUES STAR AND AUCTION BARGAINS

Mojo Juju, one of Australia’s most exciting jazz and blues performers, is set to get the joint jumping at this year’s Honour Awards , NSW’s annual LGBTI* community service awards.

The genre-bending musician, impresario and raconteur will add some sultry panache to the event in Sydney’s Ivy Ballroom on September 30 with her unique mix of hot jazz, early blues, jive and Pacheco boogie.

Gearing up for a national tour, Mojo has been hailed as one of Australia’s freshest and most enigmatic artists with a signature sound that’s a pinch of Bessie Smith and a sniff of Cab Calloway mixed with several shots of Tom Waits.

Mojo came to prominence as frontwoman for cabaret punk band the Snake Oil Merchants and headlined at this year’s Vivid Festival when she performed with the Melbourne Ska Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House.

Mojo will join the 30 finalists, a raft of celebrities and over 350 guests for an inspirational evening that recognises outstanding achievements within or contributions to NSW's LGBTI community.

The awards are also a gala fundraising event for LGBTI charity Aurora and for ACON, NSW’s leading HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTI health organisation, and guests will be able to bid on a range of amazing silent auction items including luxury holidays, art, furniture, home wares, and 5-star dining, accommodation and entertainment packages.

Some of the standout items are:

  • Luxury accommodation in Thailand and Bali
  • Holiday packages on the North, Central and South Coasts
  • Holding The Man book signed by the writer, producers, director and stars of the film
  • William Yang portrait session and framed print
  • Pearl jewellery from The Stranded Pearl
  • Apple devices
  • + more to be announced closer to the event

The online auction will go live on Monday 28 September and for the first time will be accessible to any member of the public. Bidding details are on the Honour Awards website.
