Cabaret powerhouse Catherine Alcorn will headline this year’s Honour Awards, NSW’s longest-running awards night celebrating the LGBTI community. She will join a host of entertainers and presenters – comprising community icons, showbiz stars and political figures – in lighting up this year’s awards ceremony.
The Honour Awards celebrates outstanding service to, and achievements within, NSW’s LGBTI community. Now in its 12th year, the awards is also a gala fundraising event for ACON, NSW’s leading HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTI health organisation.
A diverse mix of thirty two finalists across nine categories covering the arts, media, HIV, health, visual art, business, youth and community sector, as well as the recipient of the prestigious ACON President’s Awards, will be celebrated by over 350 guests at the inspirational awards ceremony and fabulous cocktail party to be held at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Wednesday 3 October.

One of Australia’s leading cabaret artists, Catherine Alcorn is best known for her side-splitting portrayal of LGBTI icon Bette Midler. She has just returned from an international tour, performing to packed houses in across the US. Catherine said she is excited about performing at the awards.
“I’m so thrilled to be a part of the Honour Awards this year. There are so many people doing so many wonderful things for the LGBTI community and to be able to be part of a celebration that recognises their amazing achievements and service is truly humbling. It’s honoured to be part of such a great event,” Alcorn said.
Returning as host is Australian television historian-extraordinaire, Andrew Mercado.
“I am very excited to be back for the 2018 Honour Awards,” Mercado said. “Having emceed the Honour Awards several times over the years, I know just how important this event is to the LGBTI community. And despite recent successes, it remains really vital for the LGBTI community to come together and recognise individuals and organisations whose service and achievements strengthen our communities. There’s such an incredible list of inspirational heroes this year and I can’t wait to meet them all.”

Also on the line-up is Candy Box, one of Sydney’s most beloved drag icons, who will be welcoming guests as the host of the Honour Awards Red Carpet, and local DJ Kate Monroe, who will be serving up her signature cocktail party sounds.
Other key figures within the media, entertainment, community, government and other sectors will join the entertainers, presenters and finalists for a fabulous night of festivity, and to celebrate the strength and diversity of the LGBTI community in NSW.
Guests will also be able to bid on a range of amazing silent auction items including luxury holidays, jewellery, art, furniture, homewares, and 5-star dining, accommodation and entertainment packages.
