Faustina Agolley to host the return of the Honour Awards

TV presenter Faustina Agolley will host this year’s Honour Awards, NSW’s longest-running awards celebration for LGBTQ communities. She will be joined by Australian showbiz icon Bob Downe, Gadigal elder Nana Miss Koori and DJ Kate Monroe, along with a host of LGBTQ community presenters.

First held in 2007, the Honour Awards celebrates outstanding service to, and achievements within, the LGBTQ communities in NSW. The awards are also a gala fundraising event for ACON, NSW’s leading HIV and LGBTQ health organisation.

Honour returns in 2022 for the first time in two year, after it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.

A diverse mix of 35 finalists across nine categories covering the arts, HIV, health, business, visual arts, media, youth and community sectors will be celebrated by 300 guests at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney on Wednesday 17 August.

Faustina Agolley, also known as ‘Fuzzy’, is a TV presenter, TV producer, writer, music journalist and DJ. She has graced our screens as the host of music show Video Hits, as well as being part of the hosting team of The Voice.

“I’m excited to be hosting this year’s Honour Awards, celebrating the passion, efforts and achievements of so many in our communities,” Agolley said. “There are so many unsung LGBTQ heroes out there doing amazing things and I’m honoured to be part of a celebration that recognises their service and achievements.”

Bob Downe, otherwise known as Mark Trevorrow, will be gracing the Honour stage with a musical performance.

“I’m super excited to be performing at the Honour Awards,” he said. “Having received an Honour myself, I know how important and meaningful these awards are I can’t wait to perform at Honour 2022 and celebrate our wonderful, diverse and vibrant communities.”

Also on the line-up are Aboriginal drag diva Nana Miss Koori, who will perform the Welcome to Country, and local DJ Kate Monroe, who will be serving up her signature party sounds.

A big part of the night is the silent auction, which this year features a range of fabulous products, services and experiences. All funds raised at Honour goes back into helping our communities through ACON’s health programs and services.

The Honour Awards has been possible through the generous support of a range of partners including Dowson Turco Lawyers, who returns as Honour’s principal partner for the third year. Other partners include SBS, people2people, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association, Positive Life NSW, OUT@NBCUniversal, Friends of Cayte and The Star Observer.

ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill says ACON is extremely grateful to all of the businesses and organisations who continue to throw their support behind the Honour Awards every year.

“There are many significant ways that people and organisations improve the health and wellbeing of people in LGBTQ communities, and we’re delighted that so many of these organisations are getting involved with the Honour Awards that recognises these important contributions,” Parkhill said.

“The support of our partners will ensure we deliver an amazing occasion and help us raise funds for ACON programs and services that support the health and wellbeing of our communities. We sincerely thank our partners for their generosity and support.

“We look forward to celebrating the excellence, strength, diversity and resilience of our communities at this year’s Honour Awards,” Parkhill said.
